Hunting for Easter Baskets

Well, my basket was easy to find, Matt set it out for me on the bathroom counter. He obviously wasn't aware of the Shipley family tradition to hide the basket. On Tuesday night, he told me he still hadn't found his basket, so I narrowed it down for him to one closet. For Easter, we went to Jackie's house (Matt's sister) for lunch and to celebrate Jordan's 3rd birthday. Then, we went to Leslie and Greg Friel's home for some gaming and dessert! So, we didn't get to baskets until after 9:30 at night.

Mandy and Lance's Wedding

I am playing catch up on the blog! Sorry to all of you that had to put up with Matt's humor for so long. One of my best gf's, Mandy, got married on March 15th to Lance Larsen. Alisa and I threw a bridal shower for her the week prior and so, I thought I'd share some pics from the events. They should be getting back from their honeymoon in Hawaii any day now, although they will live in Richfield forever b/c Lance's family owns Ace Hardware there. Mandy grew up in Richfield, so her family is thrilled that she is settling there. I am sad - it's not often I go to Richfield for a good time, but I just might have to now! It was voted the 11th best place to live in the USA for hunters & Anglers by Outdoor Life magazine! They almost had me convinced to up and move.

Senator Clinton's Harrowing Sniper Drama!

Last week Senator Clinton told of her brush with sniper rifle wielding Serbio-Croats (or whatever they're called in Serbiayergoslovania) in 1996. Others who accompanied the then First lady told a much different story. According to 90's relic "Sinbad," the First lady's entourage were greeted quite amicably by the locals. Senator Obama, seizing the opportunity to gain higher ground against his rival, called out Senator Clinton.
The Steeners, however, have obtained a still from a security camera at the airport that corroborates Senator Clinton's story and exonerates her from any accusations of misrepresentation.

No Surprise

Another NCAA tournament game, another first round loss for the Cougars. I hope that I live to see the day that BYU wins just one game in the tournament. It's pretty sad that the Mountain West Conference champions couldn't beat the 6th place team in the Big XII.
In Idol news, Amanda Overmyer, the raspy-voiced hybrid of Pat Benetar and Courtney Love, was voted off the show. This was surprising. I was expecting Katie Lee Cook to be voted off because her performances are utterly uninspiring.

March Madness!!!!!

The first bit of madness was David got booted off of Idol. Oh well. Something tells me he'll find a nice, dimly lit, reputable establishment to show off his singing talent. Not to mention his sultry dancing talent. So farewell David, and good luck.

The NCAA tournament begins on Thursday. The Steeners' favorite team, BYU, is an 8 seed and will face the Texas A&M Aggies in Anaheim, California. I don't like our chances. Texas A&M is much bigger than our skinny white dudes. I'm willing to bet they're a lot faster, too. I was going to go to the games with the rest of the brothers in law, but I just paid $550 to register for the bar exam, and will soon pay $1900 for a bar prep course. Because I'm not going, BYU's chances of winning this year are very high. But if it happens I'll be beyond thrilled.

Robyn is in Denver for the next couple of days on a "work trip" with her wife, Ann Taylor. Who's going to cook for me when she's gone?

American Idol is dead to me now

The only reason to watch American Idol was voted off last night in one of the biggest travesties in the storied history of the show. Danny Noriega captured America's hearts with his understated masculinity and delightful flamboyance, which endeared him to millions of men and swooning teenage girls.
America flat out got this one wrong. Danny was the only contestant with the necessary balance of vocals, sass, and molten sex appeal to carry himself throughout the competition.

Now that I'm faced with throwing my allegiance behind another singer, I feel drawn to another latino crooner, David Hernandez. Though he nowhere approaches the John Wayne-esque manliness of the recently departed Danny, he does have a certain something that really speaks to me. I feel naturally drawn to him. So enthralled am I when he takes the stage that I feel prompted to shower him with dollar bills in appreciation. So if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with. Good luck, David.

Brooklyn's Blessing

Steve, Heather and Brooklyn

Brooklyn and her chubby cheeks!
Katie posing for a picture - the tooth fairy has been very kind to her this year!
This is a shot I snapped a few weeks ago of Presley and Beckham. It is difficult to get both of them in a shot together, because they are always running around so much!

Today, our niece, Brooklyn, was blessed. She was fast asleep the whole time. I tried to man-handle Beck while Jon went up to help bless Brooklyn (Jess is in Arizona on a girls' weekend out). As soon as he and Presley saw each other, they just wanted to get down and play. That's what they do when they are together, however this does not work in a church setting, so I promptly took Beck into the hall as he was screaming. We tried it one more time after the second baby blessing, but to no avail. So, Jon took him home to Lehi where he had to teach the deacons. We went to Heather's house after sacrament meeting and had lunch. I was able to snap a few shots of beautiful Brooklyn, when she woke up and before she changed out of her little white dress.
